Think about your own education. At what grade level did you first encounter computers, CD-ROMs, computer games, or the Internet at school or in your classroom?

I encountered computers early in elementary to help with my math. I can't recall whether they were effective. I do remember, however, in middle school we were shown how to type and I really excelled at it.

What I also recall is using the internet to make friends in other cities. I made friends with this girl who was really fun to talk to, and we maintained a pen pan relationship for a few weeks but then it just stopped.

I wasn't too interested in technology going to school. If you look at my apartment you'll think otherwise, however, because I'm always out looking for the latest Apple products(the most sophisticated of all technologies in my opinion). But in school, I disliked technology and in some ways one could say I feared it. But I don't recall why I felt this way.

  1. It's interesting to see just how far and advanced we have become over the last 5 years. Technology is great but as teachers we need to have a specific purpose when using technology and maintain a balance.
